Cool post from Lonely Planet on extreme sports. 20 unmissable extreme sports
I am lucky to have done the majority of these and am pumped to try a few others.
The F-One website recently featured a board review written by our head instructor, Billy Ackerman. One of the many perks of being a sponsored kite boarder is getting to play on new gear all the time! Click the link below to check out his review of the F-One Trax 138 and see some pictures of him absolutely boosting on his kite.
While we are up in NH enjoying the last couple of weeks of snowboard season, Billy is still playing in the water in Florida. Weak winds have curtailed his kiteboarding and small surf has limited his traditional surfing so Stand Up Paddleboarding is where it's at!

Keep shredding, Billy!
I periodically like to post an update as to what our head instructor, Billy, is up to in life when he is not up at camp in New Hampshire. Besides taking classes at UNF, kiteboarding, and surfing, Billy has gotten into Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) in a big way. He currently has a kite and SUP sponsor and recently started entering SUP competitions in Florida. Check out the below link to an article about Billy's 4th place finish last week in his first ever competition. http://f-onekites.us/portal/2013/01/09/f-one-sup-team-shines-at-the-melbourne-beach-wave-contest/
Pretty sweet. Billy plans on continuing to compete throughout the SUP season along the east coast and I am sure he is going to dominate the competition.
Our head instructor, Billy Ackerman, does not lead a boring life. In the ten months of the year that Water Monkey Camp is not going on he is down in Jacksonville Beach, Florida making the most of good weather, sandy beaches, and limitless watersports activities. Recently he has been hooked on kiteboarding.
Kiteboarding is a super versatile sport, mixing a bit of wakeboarding, some surfing, and some serious kite flying skills.
Kiting makes impossibly huge airs and tricks possible due to the power of the massive kite. Most of learning how to kite is mastering the kite itself; the board skills will follow.
All of Billy's kiting adds to his ridiculous board skills so that he will continue to be a one of a kind instructor to our campers each summer.
We are lucky to have Billy at Water Monkey Camp and he says he is pumped to get back to NH in a few months. Keep on shreddin' Bill.
