Water Monkey Cabin is almost done!

In the past few days some big things have happened in the Water Monkey cabin. 20130611_170047

The above picture is the almost finished lounge area.  Blue is our favorite color and now it has taken over the cabin!  We will be putting a plasma up on the left wall where the new power outlet was hung and moving some couches in shortly.

From the other direction.  More blue and a shot down the hall towards the bathrooms.

Here is the girls' sleeping quarters.  It is pretty much set up like it will be for the campers.  You will notice that none of the beds have mattresses yet...brand new ones are being shipped up to NH any day now!

And finally the guys' side.  There is a bit more space on their side but there are usually a few more guys than girls each week.

For the remainder of the days until camp we will just be putting finishing touches on the cabin - and continuing to post pictures.

Renovations progress nicely!

Big things have been happening at our cabin/headquarters!  This week we have completed the walls that divide our three main rooms, started some of the finish work around the cabin, and revamped the entire electrical system for the cabin (the electrician did that, thankfully). Looking in at the guys' sleeping quarters.

Now that the walls are up there are three main rooms in the cabin.  The above picture shows the guys' side of the cabin from the door looking in.  There will be eight beds in there when it is all done as well as cubbies for each camper for all of their gear.

Looking at the lounge area from the guys' side.

As you step from the guys' sleeping area into the main area of the cabin this is the view you will see.  We left just enough room in the sleeping areas to sleep, other than that the goal is for everyone to chill together in the lounge, which is coming together in the above picture.  There will be couches and other seating, a plasma TV on the wall, and some other fun stuff for everyone to enjoy.

Girls' sleeping area.

The above picture is a shot of the girls' sleeping area from the lounge entrance.  It is just like the guys' side, except a bit smaller because in general we have a few less girls each week.

Porch!

The fun will not just be happening inside.  We have this great wrap-around porch which we have been working on as well.  In the coming weeks we will be hanging some hammocks, putting in some tables for meals, and making it a chill indoor/outdoor space for our campers to enjoy.

Porch looking left.

The last picture is just of the other side of the porch, as if you looked left from the other porch picture.

Keep checking back for updates as we continue renovations!

Renovations Continue

We have been working hard at camp to transform a cabin at our host camp into an awesome Water Monkey headquarters.  Progress was slow at first as we spent a lot of time fixing some underlying issues but the cabin is finally starting to take shape! 20130603_143521

The above picture is taken from the future "lounge" area looking at the two sleeping areas behind the framed in walls.  Down the hallway are the two bathrooms.

Above is a shot of the walls - now in the process of getting drywalled.

I will keep posting pictures as renovations continue this month!

Growing our quiver...

Today we did some big time shopping for camp.  We like to give our campers an array of equipment to play with and each season it is important to us to offer only the best gear to everyone who steps on our boat. This year I may have once again gone a bit overboard.  To round out our collection of wake boards we picked up a Liquid Force Angel 130 with CWB Tyke boots (for our female campers) and a Ronix District 135 with District boots.  These two new boards will join our three Liquid Force PS3's (128, 134, and 137) and our Liquid Force Trip (142).  That is six boards in an array of sizes to keep even the pickiest clientele happy!

As you can see in the above picture we got some other stuff as well!  On the left is a great new O'Brien wake surfer which will be perfect to learn on.  On the right is a sick new O'Brien Siege slalom ski (with a built in GoPro mount on the tip).  It is a bit smaller than our Connelly slalom ski from last year which will be awesome for our smaller campers looking to shred the one ski.  Down bottom are also some new ropes: the blue one is a sweet new LF wake board line and on the left is a new Ronix wake surf rope with a handle (we also have a knotted rope if you prefer that).

That beast is one of our two newly acquired SUP (stand up paddle) boards.  It is made by F-One out of France and is actually inflatable so we can take them out on the boat and anyone who wants to can go for a paddle on the lake.  The paddles are light weight aluminum and adjustable for all sizes of riders.

I had to try to get it all into one picture.

There is nothing better than the smell of a room full of fresh gear!
